Dental Hygiene
The Dental Hygiene Program has a mission to graduate highly skilled practitioners dedicated to quality patient treatment, preventive dental health education, community service, life-long learning, and dental research. In order to accomplish this mission, the Dental Hygiene Program:
- Offers superior educational opportunities to dental hygiene students in order for them to respond to the needs of the Commonwealth, as well as to the broader needs of society at large;
- Serves the profession, the University, the people of the Commonwealth, and society at large by providing high quality education and clinical services;
- Collaborates with members of the University of Pittsburgh and School of Dental Medicine to conduct research related to oral health and dental hygiene;
- Offers continuing education programs reflecting recent developments and advances in dental hygiene adapted to personal, professional, and career objectives of the practitioner at the regional, national, and international level;
- Engages in public service activities by making available the expertise and educational services of the Dental Hygiene Program to alumni, local community, and public agencies.
