2008 RAAHPer of the Year (9/22/08): Jeannie Yuhaniak-Irwin, a third-year PhD student at the Department of Biomedical Informatics, recently was awarded the "2008 RAAHPer of the Year" by the NYU College of Dentistry. This award honors the individual who has made outstanding contributions to research activities within the NYU Oral Cancer Research for Adolescent and Adult Health Promotion (RAAHP) Center in the previous year.

Grant Award from the Office of the Provost's Advisory Council on the Instructional Excellence (4/11/08):The project, entitled "Quantitative Image Analysis Using Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended," will give biomedical researchers the ability to analyze quantitatively images derived from diverse lab equipment.

Department of Biomedical Informatics recruiting three postdoctoral associates (09/18/07): The Department of Biomedical Informatics is currently recruiting three postdoctoral associates in a variety of research areas, including dental informatics.

Center for Dental Informatics to Develop an Online Research Community (12/05/06): Over the next five years, the CDI will participate in the development of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) funded by an $83.5 million National Institutes of Health grant. The CDI will implement an online community for biomedical researchers at Pitt.

University of Pittsburgh Center for Dental Informatics presents research at AADR/ADEA conference (04/10/06): CDI recently presented the results of five research projects at the joint meeting of the American Association for Dental Research and the American Dental Education Association in Orlando, FL.

National Library of Medicine Funds Dental Informatics Online Community (12/14/2005): The CDI has received a grant of $280,000 to establish an electronic, world-wide community of researchers and others interested in dental informatics.

Dental Informatics Fellow Receives CRSP Award (6/20/2005): Dr. Thyvalikakath was awarded a five-year NIH grant that provides in-depth research training.

UK Chief Dental Officer visits University of Pittsburgh School Of Dental Medicine (6/20/05): A team from the UK Department of Health visited the CDI to learn about dental informatics research.

Center for Dental Informatics organizes NIH-sponsored conference on dental informatics and dental research (06/20/02): The NIDCR and NLM have funded the Center to hold the first scientific conference on dental informatics worldwide.

University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine establishes Center for Dental Informatics (02/12/02): Drs. Schleyer and Spallek, two internationally recognized experts in dental informatics, have founded the new Center dedicated to research and postgraduate education in dental informatics.
