Description:
The Center for Dental Informatics in the Department of Dental Public Health of the School of Dental Medicine is announcing a full-time research position at the level of Postdoctoral Associate. The postdoctoral associate will play a key role in two NIH-funded research projects that aim to improve the management of electronic patient data in dentistry and to facilitate their reuse for research. The first project will develop a consensus-based dental information model that can serve as a blueprint for storing patient data in electronic dental records (EDRs). The second is piloting an innovative method for reusing patient data from commercial private-practice EDRs for clinical and comparative effectiveness research. The associate will be deeply involved in all phases of the projects, with major responsibilities in developing and evaluating data representations; mapping data elements between different EDR and research applications; and conducting telephone surveys, contextual inquiry and field observations. S/he will also participate in data collection, analysis, and writing and submitting manuscripts.
