Get trained in dental informatics!

Pittsburgh, Jan. 22 – The Center for Dental Informatics is currently recruiting trainees for its NIDCR/NLM-funded training program in dental informatics. Dental informatics specialists research and apply cutting-edge computer applications, such as decision support systems, computer-based oral health records, image processing and analysis programs, and teledentistry systems, to solve real-world problems in dentistry. The program is open to individuals with background in information science/computer science, dentistry or related fields.

Our program prepares trainees for a research and teaching career in dental informatics. As part of a group of over 35 trainees in medical and dental informatics, you will participate in a multi-faceted and stimulating curriculum that leads to a Masters or a Doctoral Degree in Biomedical Informatics. Twenty-eight core faculty and over 40 affiliated faculty, spanning a total of 20 departments and centers, are available to interact with and mentor you.

Financial support from the NIDCR/NIH is available to eligible individuals. NIDCR/NIH funds provide for a stipend, tuition, fees and health insurance support, travel subsidies, and a state-of-the-art computer. The program also offers a limited number of positions for self-funded trainees. Applications are due in the spring of each year. The program begins in August of each year.

Please note: The National Institutes of Health (NIH) offers a loan repayment program for qualifying educational loans. This program is open to trainees through a separate application and award by the NIH. The program provides a maximum of $35,000 per year for three years in loan repayments.
