Prerequisites: General understanding of technical documentation writing and writing style guidelines
Outcomes: A clearly written technote that is usable for users unfamiliar with the system. You can assume a basic level of computer literacy among readers.

Background: The purpose of this exercise is that you practice your skills in technical writing, specifically writing documentation for software programs or applications. Below are the topics and assignments. Please write your technote according to the guidelines we have discussed. For additional guidance regarding the details of the topic you will write about, please contact Kawa Shwaish.

How to complete this assignment: A sample technote and template is TN001: Intranet Access. Please use this document as a blueprint for your own technote, and stay as close as possible to the layout, formatting and style conventions evident in the document.

The technote topics and assignments are as follows:

Deliverables:
By the due date, please e-mail your completed technote to Titus Schleyer. In a subsequent lab session, we will critique the technotes.

Grading criteria: Criteria for grading are, in order of importance: (1) correct instructions for the task to be completed; (2) adequate information to allow the user to complete the task, using an appropriate mix of text and figures; (3) clear, concise and grammatically correct writing that is consistent and easy to understand; and (4) compliance with the provided memo template. Assignments received after the due date receive one letter grade lower.
