2.1 Goals, objectives and audience

Goals and objectives should state clearly what the intended outcome of the program is. Students then will be able to determine whether the program meets their needs.

2.1.1. Is the intended audience for the program described? A learner must be able to assess whether a particular software application is appropriate in terms of learning objectives and content. Thus, the intended audience should be described in sufficient detail to allow this judgment.

2.1.2. Does the program state prerequisites clearly? Even if the intended audience is defined, the program should state any prerequisites, such as domain knowledge and computer skills.

2.1.3. Are goals and objectives stated? Goals and objectives should be explicitly and clearly stated.

2.1.4. Are goals and objectives useful? Goals and objectives should be useful to the stated audience.

2.1.5. Are goals and objectives worded in the student's vocabulary and reading level? The learner should be easily able to understand the program's goals and objectives.
