4.7 Help

 

Help includes all materials and functions that assist the learner in working with the program.

4.7.1. Is help available? Help in using the product should be available and easily accessible at all times.  If comprehensive help is available in hardcopy form, it should also be available from within the program.

4.7.2. Is help hyperlinked and context-sensitive, and does it include an index and a search function? Help should be easy to navigate and easy to use. Hyperlinks, context-sensitivity, indices and search functions help the learner access answers to questions to easily. Context-sensitivity implies that help displays material relevant to the current place in the program.

4.7.3. Does the help component of the program comply with the criteria listed in this document? Since help systems can be considered a type of educational software, they should comply with the criteria in this catalog.

4.7.4. Can sections of the online help be printed out? Although not an absolute criterion for a quality product, it may be helpful to have the capability to print out sections of the online help.
