Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics: Programs
First professional student rotations:
During this rotation period, dental students will be introduced to orthodontic terminology, mechanics, and procedures. They will work with orthodontic residents and professors to learn how to identify orthodontic problems and the criteria for patient referrals.
Certificate of Completion in the Advanced Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics:
A three-year program will include coursework, clinic experience, and a research project submitted for peer review. Upon completion, residents will be eligible for certification to practice orthodontics.
Master of Dental Science Degree through the Advanced Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics:
Upon completion of this three-year program, residents will be awarded an MDS in orthodontics. This program encompasses all aspects of the certificate program, along with a master's research project. This includes the completion and successful defense of the master's thesis, which will be published upon completion of the program.
