Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD): Patients

The Advanced Education in General Dentistry program provides comprehensive dental care to patients presenting with complex medical histories that require coordination of their care with their physicians. Patient care is provided by dental residents who have completed their dental school education and are now enhancing their ability to treat patients presenting with complex treatment needs.

A unique quality of the program is the daily professional and educational interaction occurring among the practitioners of the various dental disciplines. These include:

  • Center for Patients with Special Needs
  • Endodontics
  • Multidisciplinary Implant Center
  • Oral Pathology
  • Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
  • Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics
  • Periodontics
  • Prosthodontics

The program’s three residents practice in a setting that approximates closely a group practice with a focus on the treatment of complex general dentistry patients. The Advanced General Dentistry clinic is directed by and staffed by dental faculty with additional training in general dentistry.
