Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD): Patients

Information for Advanced Education in General Dentistry Patients

Patients are assigned through the School of Dental Medicine patient assignment office. Approximately 60% of the patients seen present with dental, medical, and/or physical handicaps. Experience in treating pediatric and adolescent patients is provided by treating patients from the Department of Pediatric Dentistry. The AEGD Program works in conjunction with the Department of Anesthesiology to treat patients with special needs.

Residents learn a team approach to dental care by working with the department's expanded function dental assistant and students from the School of Dental Medicine's Dental Hygiene Program who rotate through the AEGD clinic.
