Short-term Training Program
This is a five-year NIH-funded training program that appoints 12 trainees for a three-month mentored research experience each year in the following interest areas: Oral Cancer, Tissue Engineering, Public Health/Epidemiology, Genetics, Physiology/Oral Function, and Dental Informatics.
These six multidisciplinary programs represent major research focus areas at the University of Pittsburgh that link with research activities in the School of Dental Medicine. The mentors in each of these areas have experience in training medical students, medical residents and Masters- and PhD-level graduate students. Therefore, trainees from the School of Dental Medicine will be exposed to a multidisciplinary research environment. An overall description of each program and the area of interest for each mentor is available in the Dental Medicine Research Office, 340 Salk Hall, 412-648-8965, or e-mail cljones@pitt.edu.
