The Department of Dental Anesthesiology provides an array of anesthesia services for general clinic patients and in the Center for Patients with Special Needs. A full range of anesthetic services is available at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, such as nitrous oxide, oral sedation, intravenous (IV) sedation and/or general anesthesia. Conscious-sedation is the name of one of the methods used to manage pain and anxiety in order to make sure your dental visit is pleasant. In addition to anesthesia services, the department is trained to act as first-responders for any medical emergencies that occur at the school.
