Dr. Elizabeth Ann Bilodeau earned her BS, DMD, and MSEd degrees at the University of Pennsylvania. At the University of Pittsburgh she received her MD and subsequently completed graduate training in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center earning a Certificate in Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology. Dr. Bilodeau joined the faculty of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in 2011. She serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Oral Biology.
She currently serves as the co-course director for the predoctoral Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology & Radiology course, the dental hygiene General and Oral Pathology course, and co-directs the resident Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology course. She is Board Certified in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and serves as the UDHS Oral Pathology Biopsy Service Laboratory Director, participating in faculty biopsy service.
She has authored over 50 peer reviewed publications as well as book chapters and invited articles. She serves as the Director of Education for the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology and has represented the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology by serving as a member and as a consultant member of the American Dental Association’s Commission for Continuing Education Provider Recognition. Her research interests include the clinicopathologic, immunohistochemical, and molecular features of various odontogenic and salivary tumors.
From 2014- 2017, she served as the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine's Director of Admissions, also chairing the Transfer Committee, and serving on the Advanced Standing Admission Committee and on the Biomedical Masters Admissions Committee. She also serves the school on the Infection Control Committee and has chaired the Academic Integrity Committee. She is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon and a fellow of the International College of Dentists.
