Mrs. Ban is a 1980 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine Dental Hygiene Program. She earned a Bachelor's of Science in Dental Hygiene with a concentration in research in 2007. Her current academic rank is Instructor, and she has been a part-time faculty member in the Department of Dental Hygiene from 2008 to present.
Mrs. Ban served as Vice-President of Dental Hygiene Affairs for the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine Alumni Association. In this capacity, she served as Chair of the dental hygiene program’s 50th anniversary celebration, and is founder and administrator of a professional social networking group for graduates of the University’s Dental Hygiene Program. Mrs. Ban endeavors to engage alumni in educational opportunities involving current students.
Mrs. Ban was the recipient of the School of Dental Medicine's Distinguished Dental Hygiene Alumni Award in 2017. She has also served on the Dean's Task Force to Examine Patient Volume. In addition, she is a yearly participant in the Mission of Mercy Pittsburgh event and is a member of the ADHA and WPDHA.
