Dr. Kalista is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He presently is assigned in the pre-clinical area of removable complete and partial dentures.
He received his BS degree from Gannon University, located in Erie, Pa., in 1966. In 1970, he received his DMD degree from Pitt Dental Medicine. He completed a general practice residency at the Pittsburgh Veterans Administration Hospital in 1971. Afterward, he was employed as a hospital staff dentist by the VA for the next 35 years. While at the VA, Dr. Kalista was the director of a prosthodontic selective, where fourth year Pitt Dental students came to the VA and constructed complete dentures on a medically compromised patient.
In 2013, he retired from the School of Dental Medicine, yet returned as a clinical assistant professor of prosthodontics in 2016; a position he currently holds.
