Simulation Clinic

The University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine introduces predoctoral students to the practice of dentistry in a simulated learning environment. The Simulation Clinic, located on the fourth floor of Salk Hall, provides one student workstation per student, totaling 80, and are fully equipped with closed circuit video monitors, dental units, operatory lights, computers, and even simulated patients. This modern facility provides an ideal interactive environment for instructors and students.

Student Research

The University of Pittsburgh Student Research Group (SRG) is a student-run organization whose main purpose is to foster an environment in the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine whereby students interested in enriching their dental education through a research experience are encouraged to do so.

Multi-Disciplinary Implant Center

The Multi-Disciplinary Implant Center is a 3000 square foot facility housing 2 full surgical suites and 6 restorative operatories.  The Center provides both surgical and prosthetic services for patients treated in both the undergraduate and graduate clinics.  Residents in all of the graduate specialty programs are actively involved in co-treating the School of Dental Medicine’s implant patients.  Building upon their two semesters of didactic and laboratory training each of the undergraduate dental students participate in 3, week long rotations throughout their 3rd year, and are eligible to participate in a semester long selective program in their 4th year.  This extensive clinical participation affords every student a comprehensive “glove on glove” experience.  Proudly, approximately 70% of the undergraduate students will be involved in the restoration and surgical placement of the 200-300 implants placed annually in the Multi-Disciplinary Implant Center.

City of Pittsburgh

It was once a city known for steel and industry. Factories lined the shores of the Monongahela, Allegheny, and Ohio Rivers. Smoke filled the skies and cars drove with lights on in the middle of the day to cut through the darkness. As you look around Pittsburgh today, it's hard to imagine the industrial past that built this city.

Financial Aid

A commitment to a dental education is a significant investment of time and energy, as well as a significant financial investment. At the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, we want our students to make wise choices, especially about paying for dental school. The School of Dental Medicine offers several endowed scholarships for predoctoral (DMD), postdoctoral (advanced education), and dental hygiene students.
