Robert J. Weyant Named Winner of the 2024 IADR Distinguished Scientist Award, John Greenspan Global Oral Health Research Award

Robert Weyant, MS, DMD, DrPH, is the 2024 recipient of the International Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) Distinguished Scientist Award, John Greenspan Global Oral Health Research Award.

Dr. Weyant, Pitt Dental Medicine Professor, Chair, Associate Dean for Dental Public Health and Community Outreach, and Interim Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, was recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the 102nd General Session of the IADR, held from March 13-16, 2024 in New Orleans, La.

Dr. Weyant has published more than 260 publications in a wide range of international journals. His interests are focused on evidence-based dentistry, dental public health, health promotion, oral health inequalities, and advanced methods in dental research. He has served on numerous state, national, and international professional committees and panels as a dental public health expert advisor. He has worked collaboratively with colleagues in Canada, the UK, Brazil, Colombia, Germany, the Netherlands, Australia, India, Japan, and Thailand. He was a co-author on the Lancet Oral Health Series and is a Commissioner on the Lancet Commission on Oral Health.

The IADR John Greenspan Global Oral Health Research Award is supported by Haleon. One of the 17 Distinguished Scientist Awards, it is one of the highest honors bestowed by IADR. The IADR John Greenspan Global Oral Health Research Award honors IADR and AADOCR Past President John Greenspan, who was the founding President of the IADR Global Oral Health Inequalities Research Network and the Consortium of Universities for Global Health’s Global Oral Health Interest Group.
