Guiding Principles for the Coalition

  1. People Centered Focus
We prioritize the needs, experiences, and wellbeing of people and populations, ensuring that guideline implementation leads to meaningful improvements in oral health.

  2. Equity as a Core Commitment
We work to reduce disparities and promote equitable access to evidence informed care, recognizing that improved health outcomes must be achieved for all populations, especially those historically underserved.

  3. Science Driven & Evidence Informed
Our work is grounded in high quality evidence, living/evidence informed guidelines, and best available science. We strive to accelerate the translation of evidence into real world impact.

  4. Multi Sector Collaboration
We embrace the strength of diverse perspectives—clinical, academic, public health, policy, payer, patient facing, and others—to ensure comprehensive, coordinated approaches to guideline implementation.

  5. Systems Thinking
We recognize that successful guideline implementation depends on interconnected systems. We consider the roles of providers, health systems, payers, policymakers, and people, understanding how each influences outcomes.

  6. Inclusivity & Cultural Sensitivity
We value the cultural, professional, and population level contexts represented across the coalition. We commit to being inclusive, respectful, and aware of the lived realities of those we serve.

  7. Transparency & Open Communication
We communicate openly within the coalition and share our work externally in ways that promote clarity, understanding, and broad awareness of our mission and value.

  8. Mutual Respect & Trust Building
We “work at the speed of trust,” honoring the expertise, perspectives, and contributions of all members. Respectful dialogue, curiosity, and humility guide our interactions.

  9. Shared Accountability
We commit to collective ownership of the coalition’s goals—ensuring providers, systems, and stakeholders align and take responsibility for implementing guideline driven, person centered care.

  10. Continuous Learning & Iteration
We approach our work with openness, curiosity, and a willingness to learn, revise, and adapt. We seek feedback, evaluate impact, and refine strategies over time.

  11. Measurable Impact
We prioritize actions that can demonstrate measurable improvement in health outcomes, reductions in disease burden, and successful implementation of evidence informed guidelines.

  12. Engagement of People & Communities
We actively seek to involve people, advocates, and community based voices—directly or through intermediaries such as community health workers—to ensure real world relevance and impact.
