Nicholas Miniotis DDS MAGD ABGD

Clinical Assistant Professor

Dr. Nicholas Miniotis earned a BS degree from Penn State University and a DDS degree from Temple University Dental School. He completed a GPR at Chanute AFB and an AEGD Comprehensive Dentistry residency at the Naval Dental School.  Dr. Miniotis served in the USAF for 30 years at eleven assignments, retiring at the rank of Colonel.  His military training included Squadron Officers School, Air Command and Staff College and Air War College.  Dr. Miniotis was on the faculty of 3 military dental residency programs (AEGDs) and was a residency director for 6 years. He also served as a squadron commander for the Dental Evaluation and Consultation Service in the School of Aerospace Medicine, the 3rd Dental Squadron, Elmendorf AK and the 81st Dental Squadron, Biloxi MS. In 2012 he joined the Comprehensive dental faculty at Louisiana School of Dentistry in New Orleans where he was responsible for pre-clinical and clinical Operative Dentistry and was a Team Leader. In 2017 Dr. Miniotis returned to western PA after 45 years and joined the Pitt Dental School Comprehensive Dentistry and Restorative faculty as a clinical assistant professor.  

Dr. Miniotis is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry and a Fellow of the International College of Dentists.  He is a diplomate of the Federal Services Board of General Dentistry and the American Board of General Dentistry (ABGD). Professionally, he has served as a Consultant, ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation, and Consultant to the USAF Dental Executive Board, deputy examiner/examiner ABGD Oral Board and is a past president of the ABGD.

He currently serves as a pre-clinical operative lab instructor for first year students and co-directs the 2nd year operative refresher course. In clinic, he staffs dental students in operative dentistry, oral diagnosis and treatment planning. Dr. Miniotis is a student mentor and a clinical Team Leader. He is a member of the school Instrument Committee.
