Prioritization and Framework

Charge to the Prioritization and Frameworks Working Group:

• Create a framework for all guidelines work before prioritizing content. 
   
• Develop a rubric for prioritizing which guidelines the coalition will focus on. 
   
• Incorporate factors such as: Impact on equity, disease burden, feasibility, dissemination needs, system relevance. 

Steps Taken:

1. Reviewed 10 guiding principles and affirmed integration of these into framework for prioritization.
    
2. Reviewed a draft rubric to score guidelines to inform prioritization. This draft rubric included both already published tools (i.e., AGREE II, GLIA) and novel criteria we developed (i.e.,, equity and ROI).
    
3. Discussed working draft rubric, including domains, and next steps.
    
4. Affirmed a Five Lens Guideline Prioritization Framework, as revised and reviewed by Natalia.
    
5. Revised the framework to add a fifth lens (i.e., external implementability).
    
6. Presented the framework at full Coalition meeting and obtained approval to apply it to the ADA guidelines.
    
7. Spring/Summer 2026: 5-lens framework developed and piloted to identify one guideline (Management of Acute Dental Pain) to prioritize for Coalition-wide implementation.
