On Saturday, May 15, 2025, the School of Dental Medicine celebrated its 129th year of providing dental education as the Class of 2025 received their diplomas and certificates. As family and friends gathered in Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts, they were eager to celebrate the graduates as they walked across the stage to receive their diplomas.

Pitt Dental Medicine is proud of the hard work our faculty, staff, and students put forth that helped lead this year’s graduating class to the successful completion of 85 dental degrees, 27 dental hygiene degrees, 23 certificates of advanced study for dental specialties, 4 Masters of Dental Science degrees, 4 doctoral degrees and 1 master’s degree.

This year, 5 graduates spoke about the impact of their mentors and the continuous support they received while at Pitt Dental Medicine and all will join our expansive alumni network.

  • Nadine Robert, BDS, MS Oral and Craniofacial Sciences,
  • Sara Marie Patterson, DMD, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics Resident,
  • Margaret Eleanor Peck, DMD, Valedictorian, Dental Class,
  • Jared Daniel Brown, DMD, President, Dental Class,
  • My Linh Hoang, President, Dental Hygiene Class.

With a 100% first-time pass rate on their clinical licensure examination— for the third year in a row—many dental hygiene graduates already have received job offers. Of this year’s graduating DMD class, 99% celebrated a first-time pass rate on their clinical licensure examination, and over 50% of them are set to begin advanced dental education residency programs this summer.

Pitt Dental Medicine graduates continue to set exceptionally high standards for themselves during their programs and after graduation. We congratulate our 2025 graduates on their bright futures ahead as clinicians, researchers, and educators.
