Faith Mahan joined the University of Pittsburgh Dental Hygiene Program as a part-time faculty member in 2008 and became a full-time instructor in 2013. She serves as the Dental Hygiene first-year Clinic Supervisor, the course director for the Introduction to Dental Hygiene, Dental Hygiene Preclinic, and Dental Hygiene Seminar I and II courses. She serves as participating faculty in the lab sessions for the Introduction to Dentistry, Radiology, and Anesthesia for the Dental Hygienist courses. In addition, Ms. Mahan is an instructor for the Dental Hygiene clinical courses; Clinic I, II, III, IV and Advanced Clinic. She also serves as participating faculty for the DMD Program Periodontal Instrumentation Labs and the DMD Peer to Peer and Periodontal Department SRP Clinics.
Ms. Mahan graduated from the University of Pittsburgh Dental Hygiene Program in 1994 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene Education in 2006. She completed a Master of Science in Education at the University of Pittsburgh in Health and Physical Activity Programming and Promotion in August 2020.
She serves as chair of the Dental Hygiene Curriculum Committee and a member of the Dental Hygiene first and second-year Clinical Evaluation Committees, Dental Hygiene Promotion Committee and Dental Hygiene Outcomes Committee. She holds memberships in the American Dental Hygiene Association, Pennsylvania Dental Hygiene Association, the American Dental Education Association (ADEA), Institute for Research, Education and Training in Addiction (IRETA) the Organization for Safety Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP), and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
