Karen Nedwick Castro DMD

Clinical Assistant Professor

Dr. Karen Nedwick-Castro earned her bachelor of science degree from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa.  She then earned her DMD degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.  After completing her residency at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Nedwick-Castro worked in private practice for 15 years.  She transitioned to teaching at Pitt Dental Medicine as an assistant clinical professor.

Dr. Nedwick-Castro served as director of the Oral Diagnosis and Treatment Planning Course for second year dental students for 15 years, including teaching this course to incoming Advanced Standing Students.  She has trained students and faculty in the use of AxiUm (electronic health record) software in clinical areas from 2008 until recently.  She also has been a team leader for 15 years, and served on various committees in the school (curriculum, promotions). 

Dr. Nedwick-Castro has published a paper in Case Reports in Dentistry:  “Failure to Control Caries in an AIDS affected Individual”, and presented posters at the ADEA conferences. She is a member of ADEA.
