Seth Weinberg PhD

Professor, Department of Oral and Craniofacial Sciences; Co-Director, Center for Craniofacial and Dental Genetics

Dr. Seth Weinberg joined the School of Dental Medicine as faculty in the Department of Oral Biology (now Department of Oral and Craniofacial Sciences) in 2009. Prior to joining the faculty, he completed his graduate work in biological anthropology at the University of Pittsburgh, followed by postdoctoral training in neuroimaging at the University of Iowa. Dr. Weinberg currently serves as co-Director of the Center for Craniofacial and Dental Genetics. He also has a secondary appointment in the Department of Human Genetics

Dr. Weinberg’s research interests include the genetic basis of human craniofacial morphology, the etiology of craniofacial birth defects, and documenting patterns of craniofacial variation in human populations from around the world. To accomplish this, Dr. Weinberg’s research weaves together 3D imaging, morphometrics and genomics. His research has led to the discovery of numerous novel genes impacting human facial appearance. He has served as both principal and co-investigator on a number of collaborative research projects funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
