Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Provides clinical and direct care to both pediatric and adult patients, including preventative services.
Performing exams and examine x-rays of teeth, gums, the jaw, and nearby areas in order to diagnose problems
Ensures that x-rays are appropriately taken.
Develop treatment plans to deal with any dental health issues
Fixing or removing damaged teeth
Place sealants or whitening agents on teeth
Filling cavities
Administer anesthetics to keep patients from feeling pain during procedures
Administer or prescribe medications to decrease pain and improve patient health
Interact with patients and instruct them on proper oral care
Provides instructions in oral hygiene and preventing the spread of oral disease.
Measure and fit dental appliances
Refer patients to a specialist if needed
Records services provided and ensure appropriate documentation.
Stay abreast of new dental technology and practices
Stays abreast of pertinent medical information about patients that determines care and treatment
Participate in developing and updating the policy and procedure manuals, standards of care manuals, and clinical protocols.
Ensures appropriate coordination of patient referrals, patient satisfaction, handles patient calls, and follow-up.
Promotes effective communication within and between departments through teamwork.
Participate in QAI activities as required by the organization
Attends Departmental and other staff meetings as required by the employer
Contributes to departmental and organizational decision-making through active participation.
Works effectively and positively with co-workers, healthcare professionals, and volunteers.
Participate in the Centers integrated health care model

Other Job Duties & Responsibilities
Act as a liaison with area dental, dental hygiene, and dental assistant professional organizations.
Meet with groups of professionals to solicit donated materials if required
Look for new ways to expand the services provided by The Centers and Circle Health.
Supervises volunteers and dental students.
Oversees full-service Dental Clinic intake/triage, matching patient demand with dental assistants and availability of providers.

Physical Demands/Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. Requires the ability to use hands and fingers in small spaces. The position has been evaluated as having a high risk of exposure to blood and other body fluids and requires the use of personal protective equipment to protect against such hazards. Must be able to tolerate a respirator while working. Travel and work outside of normal hours may be required for meetings, presentations, trainings and other events.

Required Experience

Job Qualifications
Two or more years of clinical practice experience offering Dental services to both pediatric and adult patients.
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from a dental program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation
Board certified and licensed DDS in good standing in the state of Ohio
Supervisory experience
Teaching experience
