Pitt Dental Medicine Helps to Support Homeless Vets

Veterans Day is November 11.

As this important holiday approaches, please remember the homeless veterans of our city. In their youth, these brave men and women gave their all to protect the freedom that each of us enjoys. They paid a great price and now many suffer from physically and mentally disabling wounds that have made it impossible for them to maintain a job, a home, or family relationships. In many cases the reward for their sacrifices has been abandonment by those whom they served. Many have been forced into that world of homelessness. There are some grants available to get these veterans into some sort of transitional and permanent housing but there is no money to help them obtain basic things like towels, dishes, eating utensils, blankets, toiletries, etc.

Improving Dental Health

Ariel Snell, third-year Pitt Dental Medicine student, and her mentor, Dr. Jacqueline Burgette, Pitt Dental Medicine Assistant Professor, will be at the CEC in Homewood on November20 to talk with visitors about Homewood Healthy Smiles and help you learn more about good dental health.

Read about Ariel and the CEC to find out about how this partnership is changing the dental health of this vibrant community.

Thank You from Pitt Dental Medicine

Pitt Dental Medicine sends out a gigantic THANK YOU to Kushan Gajjar and Shruti Parikh Gujjar, engineers from Michigan, for their help during these trying times.

Using a design file available online, they are successfully 3D printing face shields that they are donating to the University of Michigan Medical Center and Pitt Dental Medicine. A huge thank you, also, to their good friend and Pitt Dental Medicine DMD student, Shraddha Kulkarni, for helping us with our urgent need for hard-to-find PPE.
