The University of Pittsburgh Women in Craniofacial and Oral Research Group serves to support the interests and development of women working in the areas of dental, oral, and craniofacial research by highlighting research accomplishments, providing a network for communication, collaboration and mentoring, and emphasizing the value of diversity and inclusion.

Smile with Pride

Smile with Pride is the Pitt Dental Medicine LGBTQ+ student group focusing on providing an inclusive environment for students, patients, faculty, and staff regardless of gender or sexual identity, through education, advocacy, and community outreach. 

The group continues to build bridges between Pitt and Pittsburgh's LGBTQ+ community in Pittsburgh through education, discussion, and evolution at the School of Dental Medicine, and looks froward to being part of training the next generation of compassionate, considerate and socially-conscious dentists.

Sponsoring the Pitt Dental Medicine booth at Pittsburgh's annual Pride Fest, Smile with Pride brings oral health awareness to the regional LGBTQ+ community while representing Pitt Dental Medicine’s commitment to inclusivity and accessibility to oral health for all. The group also advocates within the School for more education on LGBTQ+ oral health concerns, brings guest speakers to present lectures on this topic, and advocate for the a patient medical history questionnaire that is mindful of LGBTQ+ representation.

The mission of the Pitt Queer Professionals at the University of Pittsburgh is to promote the professional and social development of LGBTQIA+ staff and faculty and advocate for the needs of our community by hosting, or participating in various social events, educating the greater University of Pittsburgh community, fostering a climate of outreach and inclusion, and acting as an agent for the collective voices of the university's LGBTQIA+ professional community.

Rainbow Alliance

The Rainbow Alliance is an organization that provides for the concerns and interests of marginalized sexual orientations and gender identities including but not limited to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, and Allied community. This organization, which fosters an atmosphere of awareness and acceptance of all individuals, provides the University of Pittsburgh community with the means to accomplish these goals. members of the University of Pittsburgh, will work to ensure that all people, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression, will be provided with an experience of equality, without prejudice, persecution, or intolerance.

Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Discrimination Advocacy

The Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Discrimination Advocacy Committee identifies, reviews and monitors issues relating to equity, inclusion and respect for all members of the diverse University community. The Committee advocates for equity and inclusion in university practices, policies and programs. The Committee offers recommendations for maintaining, developing, and promoting anti-discriminatory policies and initiatives.  The Committee serves to hear about, investigate and make recommendations on practices and policies relating to eliminating inequity, exclusion and discrimination. The Committee establishes its own areas and topics of inquiry, and encourages communications from the university community, including students, on all matters of access, civil rights, and equal opportunity.
