He completed a two-year general practice residency at the University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, Md., serving as the chief resident in the second year. After completing residency, he owned and operated a technology-focused private practice for 22 years in Johnstown, Pa. After affiliating his practice with an emerging dental service organization, he practiced an additional 5 years as a lead associate dentist and as a regional dental director. During that time, he earned an MBA degree from Saint Francis University.
